A 1099-K is a tax form that reports payment card and third-party network transactions. If you received payments through The Food Corridor via Stripe, you may receive one for tax filing purposes.

What is a 1099-K?
A 1099-K is an IRS tax form that reports the total amount of payment transactions you received through payment processors like Stripe. Think of it like a W-2 for self-employed business owners — it shows the IRS how much money you received through electronic payments.
The Food Corridor uses Stripe to process payments, so your 1099-K will typically be generated through Stripe.
Who Receives a 1099-K?
Kitchens will receive a 1099-K if you meet the IRS reporting threshold by processing payments through The Food Corridor in a calendar year:
You received $20,000 or more in gross payments
AND
You processed at least 200 or more payments
This only applies for payments processed through The Food Corridor (Stripe), this does not include manual payments accepted (cash/check)
⚠️ Note: The IRS reporting threshold may be subject to change, these are the current thresholds.
Food businesses will NOT receive a 1099-K from The Food Corridor as they are not receiving payments from The Food Corridor via Stripe.
Where will I Receive My 1099-K?
Your 1099-K will be mailed to the address on file with Stripe. You should also receive an email notification and be able to access the form electronically.
You will receive your 1099-K by March 31st for the previous calendar year (e.g., you'll receive your 2026 form by March 31, 2027)
Updating Your Tax Information in Stripe
To avoid issues with future 1099-K forms:
Access your Stripe account through TFC (Billing tab > View Stripe Dashboard)
Go to Settings > Business details
Verify:
Legal business name (must match IRS records)
EIN or SSN (entered correctly)
Mailing address (current and accurate)
Save any changes
Do this BEFORE the end of the year to ensure your next 1099-K is accurate.
Common Questions
"Why is the amount on my 1099-K different from what I expected?"
The 1099-K reports gross payments — the total amount processed before:
Refunds
Stripe fees
Platform fees
Chargebacks or disputes
Example:
Client paid you: $5,000
Stripe fee: $150
TFC platform fee: $100
You received: $4,750
Your 1099-K will show: $5,000 (the gross amount)
What you actually received in your bank: $4,750
This is normal. When you file taxes, you'll account for the fees as business expenses.
"The information on my 1099-K is wrong — what do I do?"
If your business name, address, or EIN is incorrect:
Access your Stripe account through TFC (Billing tab > View Stripe Dashboard)
Go to Settings > Business details
Update your tax information
Contact us to request a corrected 1099-K
"I didn't reach the threshold — why did I get a 1099-K?"
A few reasons this might happen:
Stripe counts all transactions across all platforms, not just TFC
Refunds aren't subtracted from the threshold calculation
The threshold is based on gross payments, including fees
State thresholds may be different (some states require lower amounts)
"I didn't receive a 1099-K — should I have?"
If you didn't meet the threshold ($20,000 or more in gross payments over 200 transactions), you won't receive one. You still need to report your income on your taxes — the 1099-K is just a reporting tool, not a requirement for filing.
If you believe you should have received one:
Log into your Stripe dashboard to verify your transaction total
Check that your mailing address is correct in Stripe
Look in your Stripe account under Reports > Tax forms
"Do I need to report this income if I didn't get a 1099-K?"
Yes. You're required to report all business income to the IRS, whether or not you receive a 1099-K. The form is just a record — it doesn't determine whether income is taxable.
"What do I do with my 1099-K?"
Keep it with your tax records for the year
Provide it to your tax preparer or accountant
Use it to verify your gross receipts when filing your business tax return
Compare it to your own records to ensure accuracy
