Understanding Platform Fees as a Food Business

If you book kitchen time through The Food Corridor, you may see a Platform Fee added to your invoice. This article explains what that fee is, why it exists, and what you can expect to pay.

What is a Platform Fee?

The Platform Fee is charged by The Food Corridor to cover the cost of running the platform that your kitchen uses to manage bookings, invoicing, and payments. It is not a surcharge for paying by credit card — it is a fee for the technology and services that power your kitchen's operations, including:

  • Automatic invoicing and payment processing

  • Personalized customer support

  • Unlimited bookings and cancellations

  • Booking notifications

  • Document management and digital file storage

  • Messaging services

All payment processing costs are included in the Platform Fee, so there are no additional charges beyond what you see on your invoice.

Will I always pay a Platform Fee?

It depends on how your kitchen has set up their account. Kitchen operators have two options:

  • Externalized fees: The Platform Fee is added to your invoice and you pay it as part of your total bill.

  • Internalized fees: The kitchen absorbs the Platform Fee as a cost of doing business and it does not appear on your invoice.

Your kitchen operator can tell you which applies to your account.

How much is the Platform Fee?

The base Platform Fee is 4%. If you pay by bank transfer (ACH) or manual methods such as cash or paper check, you receive a 2% discount, bringing your Platform Fee down to 2%. This discount is available to all clients equally.

  • Credit or debit card — 4%

  • Bank transfer (ACH) — 2% (2% discount applied)

  • Manual (cash or paper check) — 2% (2% discount applied)

For example, if you book 4 hours at $25 per hour ($100 total) and pay by credit card, your invoice will show $104. If you pay by ACH, your invoice will show $102.

Where does the Platform Fee appear on my invoice?

Platform Fees are listed as a "TFC Fee" on your invoice. If you have questions about a specific charge, reach out to your kitchen operator directly — they are best positioned to walk you through your invoice.

What if I have a question about a Platform Fee charge?

For questions about your specific invoice or charges, contact your kitchen operator.
