What is FLIP?

FLIP (Food Liability Insurance Program) provides commercial general liability insurance designed specifically for those in the food business. Liability insurance, with your kitchen listed as an additional insured party, keeps your clients compliant and your business protected so you can continue to operate and support your food businesses.

Why should my kitchen offer FLIP through The Food Corridor?

The Food Corridor has integrated with FLIP to reduce barriers and make it easy for your clients to be compliant when it comes to insurance. Prospects and clients can apply for FLIP insurance directly through their Food Corridor account, eliminating the need for back-and-forth communication, duplicate information, and manually uploading files and entering expiration dates.

When your clients sign up for FLIP through The Food Corridor, their policy expiration and renewal dates will automatically sync with your insurance requirement. But that's not all – there are even more benefits:

  • Flexibility with Insurance Providers: Clients can still choose their preferred insurance provider and upload their policy to The Food Corridor if they opt not to be insured through FLIP.

  • Sync Existing Policies: If your client already has an existing policy with FLIP, we can help you sync it seamlessly. Just provide us with their information, and we'll take care of the rest.

  • Additional Insured Coverage: As an added layer of protection, when your client signs up for FLIP, your kitchen will be automatically included as an additional insured party on the policy.

Choosing to offer FLIP does not mean you are endorsing or recommending FLIP. This means that you are simply offering it as a more streamlined option for your clients to choose if they would like. Ultimately, the responsibility falls on your client to understand their policy and the coverage associated with it.

How does it work?

The FLIP Integration is free, simply toggle it on to allow your prospects and clients the option to apply for FLIP. They'll also receive a $10 discount on their policy with code FC10. To offer the FLIP Integration, go to your Kitchen Settings > Documents, switch the toggle to "Offered," and choose the document requirement to sync.

If you need to change the synced requirement at any point, click on "Change Document" and select a new requirement.

Once you've turned on the offering, your prospects and clients will have the option to apply for FLIP in their Documents tab. When they select "Apply with FLIP", a FLIP application is created for them with their basic information already filled in, and your kitchen listed as "additional insured". They will then make their selections and pay for their policy.

Once the policy is active, their proof of insurance and additional insured certificate will be automatically uploaded as a PDF, and their expiration or renewal date will be populated. The integration allows for for real-time management if they need to make changes, and supports compliance with auto renewals.

Pro-tip: Add FLIP insurance application as a step in your Onboarding Flows checklists so you have an easy way for your prospective clients to apply for insurance.

FLIP as a checklist task

An easy way to ensure your clients and prospects add FLIP as their insurance is to add the “Apply for FLIP Insurance” to their checklist.

To do that, first you will need to activate the FLIP offering under your Kitchen Settings > Documents tab.

After you have done so, you will be able to add an “Apply for FLIP Insurance” task to your onboarding checklist by going to Kitchen Settings > Onboarding > Add Task > Select “Apply for FLIP Insurance”.

Once a Food Business applies for FLIP and the insurance is activated, the checklist task will automatically be marked as complete, and you will receive a notification that your client or prospect is now insured with FLIP.

What if my client or prospect already has FLIP insurance?

If your clients or prospects already have FLIP, they can request to integrate it with your kitchen. For the instructions on how a Food Business can integrate with FLIP, please see the “What if I already have FLIP?” section in this article.

Have your own FLIP discount code for your kitchen? No problem! Your clients can still use your discount code when they apply through The Food Corridor.

NOTE: FLIP Insurance is only available in the US.
