What is FLIP?

FLIP (Food Liability Insurance Program) provides commercial general liability insurance designed specifically for those in the food business. Liability insurance, with your kitchen listed as an additional insured party, helps keep you and your kitchen covered so you can continue to operate with peace of mind.

Why apply for FLIP from The Food Corridor?

The Food Corridor makes it quick and easy to be compliant in your kitchen by syncing your FLIP insurance into your Food Corridor account. This eliminates the need for back-and-forth communication, duplicate information, and the need to search for multiple sites and manually upload files. You can also get a $10 discount on your FLIP premium by using the code FC10.

You have the flexibility to update, renew, or cancel your policy, and have the changes automatically reflected for your kitchen.

How do I apply for FLIP?

If your kitchen offers the FLIP sync as an option, you'll see this option in your Documents tab. To apply, simply look for the FLIP logo on your insurance document requirement, then click 'APPLY WITH FLIP (OPTIONAL)'.

If you don't have a name or phone number added in The Food Corridor, it will ask you to add this info first. Once you add it, you can click again to Apply with FLIP.

Another way you can get to the FLIP application is through the checklist assigned to you by your kitchen – it may include a task called “Apply for FLIP Insurance.” Once your checklist is ready to go, you can access it from Account Settings > My Onboarding (or get there directly from the taskbar). If you see an “Apply for FLIP Insurance” task in your checklist, simply click the task title, and choose to Apply for FLIP.

From here, a new application will be created for you on the FLIP site, with some of your information already filled in. Simply fill in the remaining questions and make your selections. It will include your kitchen as an additional insured automatically, but you can add as many additional insured parties as you'd like at no additional cost. Before you submit your application, be sure to enter FC10 to get $10 off your policy! Your kitchen may also have a discount code that you can use instead.

Once your policy is active, The Food Corridor automatically uploads your policy documents and expiration date to The Food Corridor, fulfilling your insurance requirement with your kitchen. If you have the checklist task “Apply for FLIP Insurance”, the task will automatically be marked as complete and your kitchen will be notified. Easy as pie.

If your FLIP policy is set to Auto-Renew, your policy will be renewed automatically and the updated policy file will be uploaded to your Documents tab. No need to upload anything manually! You and your kitchen will receive a notification when your policy has been renewed and uploaded, as well as when your policy is approaching its renewal date. You can see the date that your policy is set to renew under Documents > My Documents.

If you need to cancel FLIP or make policy changes at any point, click "update policy" on the Insurance requirement, and you will be taken to your FLIP account. Any changes to your proof of insurance will be automatically reflected in The Food Corridor, and your kitchen will be notified, so there's no need to upload anything.

What if I already have FLIP?

Already insured with FLIP? Great news – you can sync your existing policy in The Food Corridor. To do that, simply go to Documents > [FLIP Document name] (usually ‘Insurance’) > Apply with FLIP > Integrate here. Then simply add the credentials associated with your FLIP policy in this pop-up window:

Once you apply for FLIP, your insurance doc will have a ‘Pending FLIP Sync’ status:

Once your policy is synced, if you have the checklist task “Apply for FLIP Insurance,” the task will automatically be marked as complete and your kitchen will be notified.

What if I don't want to use FLIP?

Not interested in using FLIP? Already have insurance from elsewhere? Great! To upload a non-FLIP insurance document, you will simply need to go Documents > [Insurance Doc] > Upload options > ‘I am Insured’, and then simply upload your insurance document with the expiration date.

NOTE: FLIP Insurance is only available in the US.
